Tanjore

Tanjore paintings are characterised by rich and vivid colors, gold foils overlaid on delicate but extensive gesso work and inlay of glass beads and pieces or precious and semi-precious gems. This piece depicts Goddess Meenakshi, often identified with the parrot in her right hand. It also has a lot of intricacy in the detailed arch above the deity.
